Matej Huťka

A graduate of the dance program at the Ján Levoslav Bella Conservatory in Banská Bystrica, he is a dancer with rich experience across styles for whom dance is both a profession and a passion.

Throughout his career he has worked on a wide range of projects and productions, taking part in creative processes and contributing to the success of each team. After graduating he joined the resident ensemble of the Ballet of the State Opera in Banská Bystrica, where he created several solo roles that shaped his artistic and personal development. Highlights include Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet (chor. Balogh); Karol in the dance production Silent Faces/Cries into Silence (D. Dinková); Theo Sarapo and Little Louis in the dance production Edith Piaf (D. Dinková); and Stepan Oblonsky in Anna Karenina (P. Dedinský).

With Slovenské Divadlo Tanca he performs in Cigáni idú do neba (Gypsies Are Going to Heaven), and in Zvonár u Matky Božej (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) you can see him in the solo role of Esmeralda.

At Slovenské Divadlo Tanca he has portrayed Don Giovanni in the modern ballet AMADEUS and appears in the musicals Vyznanie, Voda a krv nad vodou and Cigáni idú do neba. In the ballet Zvonár u Matky Božej he tackles the demanding, emotionally complex role of the priest Frollo.
